PCJ Radio International via Trincomalee, Sri Lanka

PCJ Radio International broadcasting from Taiwan, transmitted via Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, was heard on 30 June 2013. Their seventh test broadcast commenced a half hour later to get rid of co-channel QRM. Programme started at 1330 UTC with Andy Sennitt's "Focus Asia Pacific",  at 1345 Tecsun shortwave receiver advertisement and followed by "PCJ Happy Station Show".

Overall reception on 11.835 kHz at the time of sign on was very good SINPO 55444 . Excellent audio clarity despite slight fading.

Around 1341 UTC, suddenly atmospheric noise increased ( QRN) including transmitter hum and fading and reception deteriorate to 45333. At 1351 UTC, reception improved to 55444.
Fading and severe transmitter hum 
overruled the transmitting audio by around at1402 UTC. At 1414 UTC, hum and fading completely gone, reception improve to  55545.

A reception report was emailed shortly after the broadcast end.

Vatican Radio via Tinang, Philipines

Vatican Radio's English broadcast to South Asia was observed from 1530 hrs to 1550 hrs UTC on 15110 khz via Tinang on 26th June2013.
A commentary was heard on
Pope Francis’s weekly address to general audience. Next 'Rights and wrongs', a Weekly human rights feature.
SINPO was 45433 good signal strength with slight fading otherwise clear speech and music observed.

Received a reply email from P.J. Joseph. S.J,  confirming with a promised QSL card after seven days.

Galei Zahal from Tel Aviv-Yavne Israel

Galei Zahal, Broadcasting Station of Israel Defense Forces from Tel Aviv-Yavne. This 10Kw station was observed on 15850 khz from 1849 hrs to 1959 hrs UTC on 21 June 2013. Programming was in Hebrew and consisted of  talk with Hebrew and English songs.  At 1853 UTC a song of Michael Jackson was played. At 1858 UTC  Galei zahal announcement and advertisement of Galei zahal radio and followed by news headlines.  

 Signal (SINPO) at 1849  UTC was 25232. weak signal strength degraded largely by atmospheric noise and  moderate fading, otherwise music and speech was audible, but not always clear.

Grundig Satellit 750/Tecsun S 20000 and Sony ICF SW 7600 GR were used to monitor the broadcasts.

Reception report  was sent by email shortly after listening to the station and via snail mail with one IRC on 22nd June, 2013.

PCJ Radio International via Trincomalee, Sri Lanka


PCJ Radio International English transmission was logged on 16th June 2013. Their fifth test transmission received from  Trincomalee shortwave  facilities on 11835khz. "Focus Asia Pacific" and "The Happy Station Show" was heard from 13.00 to 14.00 UTC. SINPO was  54544. Very good signal strength some moderate QRM from a station sharing the same frequency but this interference  disappeared at around 13.25 UTC. reception improved and stayed excellent at 55555.
Email reception report was sent  on the following day.  I received an eQSL in 48 hours from Mr. Victor Goonetillake. On the very next day a follow up snail mail report was posted to PCJ's Taiwan address.

Radio Free Asia from IBB Tinian, Northern Mariana Islands

Radio Free Asia's Korean broadcast was observed via IBB Tinian on 9975 khz from 1715 hrs  to 1735 hrs UTC on 15th June 2013. SINPO at 1715 UTC was 43344. Reception report submitted on http://techweb.rfa.org/

Acknowledgment received shortly after the report submission with the following information
  'Thank you for your QSL Report submission   It will be processed and mailed to the registered address.'
